Who is Ruby Newton?
Ruby Newton is an artistic adventure launched by Raymond Strong and Jennifer Weichelt (me) with the sole purpose of doing work that is both fun and meaningful.
Our humble goal is to make people smile. Sometimes life can get a little too serious. We think that pets are in our lives to remind us that once in a while it's okay to have fun—go outside and roll around in the grass, get a treat, and take a nap.
Literally, the name “Ruby Newton” is the combination of my German Shepard, Ruby, and Ray’s orange tabby, Arthur Newton. Not only are they our pets, but they happen to be the perfect representations of our personalities (funny how that works).

Ruby came from a rescue shelter in Indiana three years ago and has been an absolute joy. She's silly and playful—either as graceful as a gazelle or else running into trees!
Arthur Newton was adopted by Ray and his wife Heidi from the Humane Society 10 years ago. He is still a happy member of the Strong family with three children to entertain him. Arthur Newton is by nature a stoic. He loves to fix you with a mocking stare that says, “I can’t believe that this is my life!”
Our pets delight in the joys of life that we (the busy humans) tend to take for granted. That's why our furry friends are the perfect subject for artwork.
We have a passion for artwork that expresses the joy and spirit of pets and animals. When we inspire a smile, a slight tug on the heart strings, or even a little chuckle, we have done our job.
We also work together as Trillium Crafted Surfaces Ltd., a unique, full service decorative painting company bringing color and art to architecture. Trillium offers decorative finishes, murals, custom artwork, and color consulting.
